This is a datapack which changes vanilla ore, stone variant, and dirt/gravel generation underground in an attempt to make it feel slightly more natural, draw out early-game progression, and give different areas of the underground in your world more distinct feels.
Dirt primarily generates in clusters near the surface, becoming more scarce as you descend. Copper ore is common throughout the stone layer of the underground, spawning in larger veins. Granite, andesite, and diorite also generate occasionlly in these layers in large clusters.
Your progression into the iron age is slightly more drawn out in this datapack; iron ore is scarcer in the upper layers of the underground than in the base game, only occasionally generating in small pockets. You'll have to delve deeper into the gloom of the deepslate layers of the world to find large veins of iron ore. But once you find it, you should have enough to last you for a little while. You can find redstone ore more commonly in the upper deepslate layers, while lapis ore is more common farther down. Gold and diamond are more rare to stumble onto in caves, but should be more easily findable when mining than in the base game.
